Scott Bakula – Orion Returns

Back From the Depths of Moria

It’s no secret that I really, really enjoyed Scott Bakula in Season 2.  Most of us did. I’ll admit that I cheered when I heard the news that he was returning in S3.5 for a reprise as Stephen Bartowski.

Stephen Bartowski Returns

What I didn’t realize until today, was that he’s coming back for two (count ’em, two!) episodes.

They sure do like their secrets, there on set.   From 411mania, Al Norton writes:

Al Norton: When you do a guest spot on shows like Christine or Chuck, does it make you more likely to keep up with them after in case you do go back?

Scott Bakula: Absolutely. Certainly with Chuck; you’ve got to stay up with that show because there’s a lot going on there. In our business when you know people and form a relationship with them, you’re more inclined to watch their stuff.

Al Norton: Do you know how many Chucks you will be doing?

Scott Bakula: Two.

Al Norton: And you can’t tell me a thing about them, right?

Scott Bakula: You are 100% correct (laughing).

He’s saying he’s a fan? Why am I not surprised? Hey Scott! Do you have a Twitter account? Get one. We’d love to hear from you!

Oh, I’m shameless!

Awesome news indeed. More Bakula can only be a good thing. Oh Boy! 8)

  2. kg says:

Wonderful news. Great actor. Good character.

I didn’t dislike any of the episodes he was in. I recall Chuck and Sarah were in a pretty good place when he was present.

I’m thinking this has to be good. I’ve always liked Bakula, and his Orion was a real high point of the epic ending of S2. I wonder if it will involve malfunctions/upgrades to the intersect, or if it will be more personal for Chuck and Ellie. Obviously his feelings/insights on Chuck and Sarah are likely significant as well.

    • Jason says:

orion attepts to alliviate chuck’s issues adapting to the intersect, he inadvertantly wipes out chuck’s memory, much to the dismay if his fiancee, luckily, doctor david chippendale has unique knowledge in treating memory loss, he prescribes chuck abstain from all contact with his financee, and has a perky brunette on 24 hr chuck watch, while doctor chippendale fills sarah’s dance card – see – I am getting the hang of this hollywood stuff

      • atcdave says:

I’ve long suspected you were really Josh Schwartz!

      • SWnerd says:

Memory loss: check, love triangles: check; now if only Bryce came back to life you’d have the soap opera formula nailed down exactly.

      • weaselone says:

Dr. Chippendale is the new host of the Bryce symbiont.

      • Jason says:

I forgot, the brunette (her name is Leda) is the love child of a may-december romance between john laroqette’s charachter and evelyn shaw (who was casey’s partner in spy school), and Leda is byrce’s ex -wife – she is there to gather intersect knowledge to bring bryce back to life, he currently is in a lisbon hospital that only has 2 patients, bryce larkin and lex luthor

    • Gord says:

One thing I would really like to see is a flashback to just after the wedding. Papa B saying a proper good bye to everyone. Then giving Chuck a way to contact him. Then we flash forward to present and Chuck sending the bat signal to Papa B. Come back, I need you.
      Papa B comes running.
Papa B: “what’s the problem Chuck”
Chuck: “nothing really, I just wanted you at my wedding”.

OK, it can be for something else, just thought the shippers could use an Aww moment.

  4. ChuckNewbie8 says:

Someone from the NBC boards called SB reset king because when he comes Sarah and Chuck get resetted lol.

I wish this time around he imparts some wisdom to Chuck and relate it to his life, love and not just give him advice about the intersect/job. “I missed getting advice from you”-Chuck

  5. herder says:

The return of Scott Bakula is a very good thing, there were a lot of interesting story lines surrounding him: the physical toll caused by flashing; the whole Mama Bartowski thing; the issue of Rios (remember he had Chuck flash on Rios not Roake Industies); the idea of forced flashing on something not in the intersect (how could the intersect have the code for Roark’s security in it); the next generation computers and finally Chuck choosing the career that he had sacerificed his normal life to avert. I have to think that at least some of these ideas will be adressed.

  6. BDP says:

Scott Bakula provided the best Chuck arc for me yet…

Im hoping season 3 will provide at least some of the high i got from those sets of episodes…

  7. JC says:

So he’s appearing in the last two episodes of the season. Right after Chuck vs The Living Dead, very interesting.
