Fabulous Fakes – Update: Kristin DOES NOT Eliminate CHUCK

And The Real Thing

We were hit this morning with a couple of interesting tidbits; one is a juicy tease from Kristin at E! that one of TV’s best loved couples will be getting married this season (and fans won’t see it coming). Chuck and Sarah are in her list of possibilities.

Oh, I do love it when pulse rates go soaring!

The other is the title of episode 4.03; Chuck vs. the Cubic Z. Most of you know that cubic zirconia are fake diamonds. Put the two together and it should give you pause.

Well, I must say that my first reaction to both items was akin to excitement mixed with trepidation. “CZ? Does that mean a ring???” and “Oh, wow! C&S could be looking at a wedding this season! Be still my romantic, beating heart! But a fake diamond? Are we going to see another rift between Chuck and Sarah??? Oh Noossss!”

But that’s only my first reaction. It didn’t take long to realize that I don’t want to see Kristin reveal later today that Chuck and Sarah are headed down the aisle, or heading into trouble.

Nope. Let me tell you in the strongest possible terms. I love spoilers, but this is one I don’t want to know in advance! The reactions displayed in the comments show that it’s a common thought. Oh, most every comment is from a fan lobbying for their favorite couple, and certainly Chuck fans are well represented. A surprising number of House fans (I assume they’re fans…) write things like this (comment #130):

Any Wed, Aug 11, 2010, 2:11 PM

if it’s house and cuddy, the show is dead *

Most everyone commenting wants to see their favorite couple get together, but the second largest group (significant in any self-selected sample) thinks their show is over if that happens (especially House fans). It’s a palpable fear. I don’t buy it for any of the shows in question, but it’s out there.

What fascinates me, though, is how much the idea of a fake diamond fits into the themes we’ve seen in Chuck. Think about the number of times that both C&S have asked about, worried over and assured each other that “It’s real.” Think about Truth for a moment…

[It’s time for The Relationship ™ to move to the next level, and both Chuck and Sarah know it. The world has been compartmentalized into Chuck’s life and the spy world and up to now, they’ve been separate. The existential crises for him is that, with Ellie very much in danger, his two worlds are colliding. Worse, just as Chuck sees a good reason to stay in the “real world” (that would be Lou), Sarah starts to know that their fake relationship isn’t exactly fake.]

CZs are fake diamonds, but they are very hard to distinguish from the real thing. Could one or both of the characters be confused about what it is they hold in their hands? Of course it’s possible! This is Chuck, after all.

Ah! You can see how my mind is working. No, I don’t want to be spoiled so soon. And no, I’m not discouraged at all either about a ring or a fake diamond. The way I’m feeling this morning, this news piques my interest in just the right way.  I’m no script writer, but if I could write the story myself at the pace of my own choosing, this is precisely the way I would have it, right now.

Life, as they say, is good.

– joe

Update: Kristin Dos Santos has eliminated the last of the 9 original couple in her little twitter contest. She’s refused to say that Chuck & Sarah (and Holly and Michael from The Office and Cristina and Owen from Grey’s Anatomy) are NOT going to be married this season, meaning that they might be.  Well, I still don’t think they will, but I’m just sayin’ – ya know?

  1. Bernardo says:

After Joe Vs. the pessimism, I´ve been in a constant state of dread. So, I do have mixed feelingo towards this. There are so many stories in the Chuckverse that I want to see, that at this point I just NEED another season. Or two.

    • joe says:

Be of good cheer, Bernardo. In case I wasn’t clear, it may not be fake after all! 🙂

      • Bernardo says:

I know, and I do try to get my spirit up 🙂
But the thing is… If they rush the wedding… they might be trying to wrap things up for the show in this season, and I´m not ready to let Chuck go yet… However, a wedding could be a great season finale. And the beggining of their married life could make a great season 5.

  2. jason says:

if indeed it is a cubic z ring (or earrings – burn – nnnnnnoooooooooooo) centered about a misunderstanding, who better to exploit that than nicole ritchie? Nothing wrong with that sort of stuff if done for comedy, not for 12 hours and 55 minutes spread out over 2 or 3 or 4 months real time of delight in angering a (significant) portion of the fanbase?

    • Faith says:

      BURN! LMAO. Good one.

Well the article also says we never see it coming and that the couple is one that “most” of the fanbase likes. Neither of those imo applies to Chuck. Everyone loves Chuck and Sarah and if we’re warned “this way” beforehand, how is it out of nowhere?

      • atcdave says:

Isn’t there something else in the hint that indicates one of the medical shows? I think we’ll be waiting until the season finale. (which is fine!)

      • joe says:

Kristin uses the word “stat” in her post, Dave (medical for NOW!) As I read it, I’m not convinced that it was a clue. But then again, it *could* be…

      • atcdave says:

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking of! Its like how Jeopardy always gives away the answer in the clue. I’m thinking its not about Chuck.

      • Herder says:

I thought Ausiello had a similar spoiler/teaser but it came with the proviso that it was from one of the big 5 networks, but not NBC which seems to eliminate Chuck.

      • joe says:

I think so too, Herder. But I think Chuck is eliminated from Kristin’s list anyway because she said “They are loved by most – but not all – fans of the show.” I have a hard time reconciling that with the fan-base I know.

She’s already eliminated at least three couples that I’m aware (um… four?) in her little “follow me on twitter” contest, and Chuck & Sarah are still in the running. Surprised?

      • jason says:

it is down to 4 couples left in the running, chuck and sarah are still in the mix, she will boot one more off, then that will be it, she will leave the list at 3:

        http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b195107_shhhh_one_of_tvs_best-loved_couples.html

      • jason says:

the last thing kristin said in the article was this: “And I’ll give you one more clue: I love them. But not everybody does.”

She has been pretty vocal about loving Chuck and Sarah, maybe Kristin and Merve are friends, hence the “not everyone does”?

      • atcdave says:

There are a few “anti-‘shippers” out there; but I don’t think many Chuck fans actually hate “Chuck and Sarah.” I still expect an engagement this season, but I doubt it will be a “surprise” sort of situation.

      • Merve says:

I never said I didn’t like Chuck and Sarah; I just don’t seem to be as concerned about them as a lot of fans.

I don’t see why this engagement/wedding should be rushed. Maybe Chuck should find his mother first so that she can actually attend her son’s wedding.

      • joe says:

I’m down with that, Merve. But, even as you write the words, the idea of both story lines happening simultaneously seems like an exciting thing.

      • Merve says:

I agree, Joe. As long we don’t have

Chuck: “I need to go search for my mother.”
Sarah: “Too bad. We have to order the flowers first.”

I think that it will work.

      • atcdave says:

Actually Merve, you’re exactly who I was thinking of with my last comment.

And I would prefer sooner than later, but either way I’m fine, as long as they don’t do any more of those stupid love triangles!

      • jason says:

merve – if my using you as someone who doesn’t like chuck and sarah, I apologize, just you have been so adamantly positive about season 3’s misery, and down about most positive chuck and sarah news, I simply thought you were proud of your position, if I offended you I apologize – I don’t think I understand what you like or don’t like about the show at all. Mama B who you have never met, is important to you, yet you already are mad at sarah about how she will react to her wedding day, my take, if mama b or morgan interfere with sarah’s wedding, that’s what guns are for, 2 shots later, 2 fewer distractions from the business at hand, afterall, the show is titled chuck and sarah isn’t it?

      • JC says:

I do think there are some people who feel like the Chuck and Sarah romance has taken over the show. And I know a few people who were turned off them being together by S3. So I don’t think they’re as beloved by everyone but probably not as hated as Huddy or the Grey’s couple.

      • Merve says:

Just to be clear, I was kidding with my last comment. I should have used one of those wacky smilies.

And I’ve never been down on positive Chuck/Sarah news. I don’t know what gave you that impression. I’m not too fussed about a Chuck/Sarah wedding because in my head, they’re already committed for life. That’s what the end of “Living Dead” showed me. Now that they’re together, they can grow together as a couple, while still maintaining their individuality. They don’t need jewelry or a piece of paper to prove their love. If they get engaged or married this season, then that’s great. If they don’t, then I won’t be too concerned.

      • jason says:

yea – about half my posts are just to stir up the pot merve, you know, if they get engaged, I will probably even quit picking on josh for stalking zac in public so yvonne and zac can’t fool around with the little troll standing between them and also quit picking on the munchkin for stealing some quality chuck sarah time on screen. On rewatch, I FF thru most things gomez, shaw on the other hand, I often just turn off.

      • Crumby says:

The “but not all” could very well be the Duck community. :p

      • thinkling says:

I’m sorry. Crumby, what is the “Duck” community? Playing catch-up … thanks.

      • jason says:

thinkling – that was great work on sarah’s journey, nice, duck is shipping diane beckman and chuck as a couple, if you haven’t noticed, the group is largely fooling around today, I would take very little written today (at least by me) seriously, except of course for duck, which most fans will quit watching if ultimately chuck does not dump sarah and marry diane

      • Bernardo says:

I´ve always thought that Duck was the Devon- Chuck shipping….
        Not that I like it.

      • Merve says:

No, Chuck/Devon is usually shortened to Chevon or Chawesome. 😉

      • Crumby says:

Yes Duck fans believe Dianne has been slow playing Chuck from the start. 🙂

To be fair, I believe Ernie is the one that has enlightened us on that particular aspect of the show. He’s showed us the clues left by Dianne.

“Duckers” have good reasons to be hopeful this season, with both the professional boundaries between Chuck and Dianne gone and the extended time Gen. Beckman will have. Dianne has already decided to do everything in her power to seduce Chuck: she’ll be showing a little of her legs in 401.

        😉

      • thinkling says:

Thanks, Crumby and Jason, for the Duck clarification. Now, that’s one I never saw coming. 😉 (And no offense to the Ducks.)

      • atcdave says:

Of course this season has also seen the nadir of Duck ‘shipper episodes. The much discussed and despised “Tooth”; which was the start of the Duck angst triangle. Chuck saw Diane with another man in her home. I’m betting it turns out to be her brother.

      • JC says:

Everyone underestimates the Charina, we’re growing in numbers.

      • Merve says:

No way, it’s all about Coleslaw (i.e. Cole/Shaw/Lester polyamory). 😉

  3. OldDarth says:

Chuck and Sarah getting engaged by Episode 3!?!?!?

Those ‘this is the last season’ rumours will take off like a rocket if that happens. 😉

  4. JC says:

Come on they’ll stretch out an engagement to the brink like everything else on the show.

Th ring will probably be something for Chuck’s side missions. Sarah finds it and freaks out, think Role Models multiplied by a thousand. Chuck gets upset by her reaction to the thought of marriage. He probably ends up telling Sarah the truth about his missions because he can’t explain away the ring.

Heather Chandler uses it to her advantage and exposes something from Sarah’s past. They might even throw in a line from Hugo Panzer about how he thought Chuck was dating that brunette from the airplane.

    • atcdave says:

I could easily see Heather Chandler pushing Sarah’s buttons on that, especially if she’s wearing some nasty piece of CZ. But I don’t expect that theme to be drawn out past a single episode; I predict TPTB will be very careful to keep Chuck and Sarah in a good place for most of the season.

      • JC says:

I don’t think the conflict will be drawn out. But I highly doubt any engagement or marriage between C/S wouldn’t take a full season.

Schwedak aren’t completely stupid. Kristin Dos Santos runs a story about a surprise wedding and then all of the sudden the title for ep3 leaks. Its great buzz for the show.

  5. atcdave says:

I see no reason to think an engagement or quick wedding means the end of anything. Get Smart ran two full seasons after Max and 99 got married, and
Undercovers starts with a married couple. I seriously think the romance is just getting good when they tie the knot.

I think an early wedding would actually be a smart move. Many of the viewers we lost last season left because they were disappointed with how the central relationship was being handled. A quick engagement, followed by a November sweeps wedding, would be an excellent way to lure some of those viewers back. I’m all for it.

Now, if I actually expect that or not is another question entirely….

    • Crumby says:

I don’t think they should rush things. 403 would feel like rushing to me. Especially if Chuck just told Sarah about Mom…

They need to let them be a little. After taking forever to get together and “date exclusively”, they moved in together right away. Then we got Sarah’s ILY and the spy will. We’ve got proof in both Tooth and the Finale that neither one of them was going anywhere. I think they established the relationship enough. We don’t need them to get engaged right away.

Of course, if we only get 13 episodes before the end of the show, they need to get engaged quickly if we wanna see the wedding… But with the S4 potential I don’t want to believe that would happen!

      • atcdave says:

As I said below to Merve, I do believe they will drag things out to the end of the season. But I don’t believe its needed. I’d say they’ve been together for three years, it just took them a while to figure it out.

      • jason says:

not at all too fast, way too slow if anything – I’d prefer to have them marry in the break, staring off season 4 married, heck, have them tell us they secretly married after colonel, and all of season 3 was a con to catch shaw, who they knew was a double agent, if they have to, I am sure liz james could write them a convincing script that makes it happen

      • atcdave says:

That would be an awesome retcon Jason, but you know there’s not a chance of it happening. Fedak still swears Shaw was perfect for Sarah in some alternate reality.

      • Joesph (can't be Joe) says:

There you S3 was an AU version. 🙂

      • Joesph (can't be Joe) says:

        Let’s try that again.

There you GO. S3 was an AU version.

      • atcdave says:

You know I’m on board with that Joseph! I think NinjaVanish wrote a better one for canon.

      • alladinsgenie4u says:

@Dave – Fedak still swears Shaw was perfect for Sarah in some alternate reality.

CF would have been better served if he had written a fan fiction story for that alternate reality rather than bringing it to canon. With the title ” What Fedak Imposes” – Frea if you ever read this, I apologize for using the title of your current masterpiece. But dont you think the title fits nicely with Fedak’s stubbornness.

      • atcdave says:

That might constitute taking Frea’s name in vain! Shame.

There are certainly a few AUs out there now that are far more satisfying than the official story; really makes me sad for the lost opportunities. But at least we’re finally on the right track.

    • Faith says:

Right, agreed Dave. Let’s get to the real meat of things…not angst, but real relationship issues.

    • thinkling says:

I agree. Get ’em hitched and let them be a passionate, committed couple. It would only add to their spy dynamic. The more solid their relationship has been, the better and more empowered they have been as spies. Marriage would ground Chuck and calm his emotions (lookout bad-guys), and it would free Sarah and empower her in ways she has never experienced.

Besides, the season is about family. It’s time for Sarah to be his wife, rather than his girlfriend (how lame is that). You know he has to already think of her that way.

He said that Sarah is all that matters (vs. the American Hero). Everybody knows that she’s the one (Morgan, Ellie, Devon, Chuck, Casey, even Beckman). He’s already told her (twice, at least) that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her. She told him that all she thinks about is a future with him and that she’d like to have something to fall back on when their spy life is over. And how wistful was Chuck’s voice when he told his Fulcrum neighbor (vs. the Suburbs) that Sarah was his wife. You could tell he could definitely get used to the moniker. It’s time to let their hearts come home for good, so they will have a firm anchor for both real life and spy life.

I think it’s the logical next step, and putting it off too long just bogs them down … again.

      • joe says:

Hi, Thinkling. There’s a large part of me that agrees with this.

Well, maybe it’s just me, but I get the impression that there’s much in the show that appeals to something that we call good old fashioned ideals and even traditional morality. It’s not necessarily “conservative” in a political sense, but I often detect a sentiment in the show that speaks to our “better angels” in many forms. As a group, we like it that way.

So yes, I’d definitely like to see them go down the path you laid out! I’m excited at the idea of seeing more of that committed relationship become even more real and even binding for them. I’m going to enjoy watching C&S waken to that fact. It would almost seem like a personal validation. Know what I mean?

      • atcdave says:

That’s pretty much my ideal scenario Thinkling. I think it would actually make it easier to write the occasional darker story if Chuck and Sarah always had each other to turn to at the end of the day. And of course the comedic parts would be awesome!

I think I know what you’re getting at Joe; but I don’t think conservative is the word, more like optimistic or hopeful. At least the show is like that when its at its best.

      • joe says:

Yes, you got it, Dave. I was actually thinking of the awkward word “traditionalist”, but optimistic or hopeful are much closer to what I meant.

  6. Crumby says:

Even if CS got engaged, let’s not forget Dianne will be more present this season. She won’t let the wedding happen so easily! :p

    • Ernie Davis says:

I knew I wasn’t the only Duck shipper out there. 😀

    • JC says:

Bah we all know Carina always takes what Sarah wants. Charina forever.

      • Ernie Davis says:

Nah, wee need Carina for the Corgan/Malex triangle for the romantic angst this year. 😉

    • thinkling says:

R U kidding. She’s the one who sent them role models so they could be the perfect spy (married) couple.

      • atcdave says:

No this is very serious Thinkling. We have a major Duck faction here at ChuckThis. They’ve been ridiculed off other fan sites but we’ve taken pity on them. Now the Jellie crown can just go elsewhere…

      • Ernie Davis says:

Ah yes, but remember those role models nearly convinced Chuck they’d become just like the Turners. Dianne’s plan nearly managed to break them up before Walker got all talkative and lovey dovey and moved in.

  7. Merve says:

A cubic zirconia, really? If Chuck is that cheap, Sarah should probably dump him. 😛

In all seriousness, an engagement won’t happen before the last few episodes of the front 13. Can’t they just exist as a couple for a while?

I can see it playing out like this:
    1. Engagement in mid-season finale (before winter break)
    2. Marriage in season finale (cliché but it works)
    3. Shippers die of happiness.

    • atcdave says:

Not so sure about number three, but I do agree your outline is the most likely scenario. As I said, I think they’d be wise to speed it up, I just don’t think they will.

      • Merve says:

I really can’t make any decisions about what I’d like to see happen until I get a good sense of what Chuck and Sarah’s dynamic is going to be next season. If they’re rushing through things, then sure, it should happen quickly. But if their relationship is proceeding slowly in the background, then they should take their time with it.

      • atcdave says:

I admit Merve, I’m assuming things continue at the fast pace we saw at the end of S3. If the relationship is pushed to the background for a while a slower pace would be natural. I still think they could get good publicity by moving along more quickly, shows like ET eat up prime time weddings; and it sound a sort of “all clear” to many who left in frustration last season.

    • Faith says:

Shippers will NOT die of happiness…shippers will live on to experience heaven on earth 😉

      • BDaddyDL says:

        very well said, Faith.

There is proof that there is life after you get what you thought would never happen. After all I am a Saints fan, and I am still here.

      • Merve says:

Um, Faith, don’t you have to die to go Heaven? 😛

Naw, I’m kidding. Fans will probably be happy with whatever happens, whenever it happens.

      • jason says:

I think Kristin is down to 5 couples, chuck and sarah and both the house couples are still in the running, Kristin said she is going to quit at 3 couples, so I am guessing CS will make the final cut, from what I can tell, Kristin likes the show and this will help promote the show (I think, although false hopes fanned alot of the anger flames that burned the show in season 3?)

      • atcdave says:

Jason, I think the situation is very different from last year. Although hopes were very high right after S2; many of us were deflated or outraged by what we heard at Comic-Con 2009. So at this point a year ago, the false hopes were more “it can’t be as bad as we fear”. Of course it was actually worse than that. But I’m willing buy into happy buzz this year. I think they’ve learned their lesson, the only possible concern I have is if they go too far the other way and the show looses all its bite. But I seriously think I will be very happy with S4 (which I was not saying a year ago!).

      • BDaddyDL says:

I think I have posted on the board more today than I have in a while. Part of me is just so glad to have a positive thread. I know a lot of us (myself included) were not happy with 3, but I have seen enough to think that season 4 will be awesome.

Im looking for more blueberry squees, more Sarah interrogations, and more Chuck hijinks this season.

One last thing, I am not sure is Sarah would say yes to an engagement. They have not been dating that long, and I’m not sure if anyone could disagree that Sarah has commitment issues.

      • atcdave says:

I could easily see Sarah balking at Chuck’s first try, but quickly changing her mind.

You know it would be nice if Sarah started dropping hints or something; but I’d bet money it won’t unfold that way. In “Chuck and Sarah vs. Themselves” Ninjavanish has Sarah saying to Chuck “if you want to keep it, you have to put a ring on it.” Funny moment, it would be great to actually see something similar.

      • amyabn says:

How about turning the tables for once, and have Sarah propose to Chuck? Not really what I want to see-call me old fashioned, but it would certainly make things interesting!

      • Faith says:

I’m on board with that Amy!

Then she can get all “Awesome-y” and be nervous and fidgety asking for Ellie’s permission to marry Chuck!

      • @amyabn

I like the Sarah proposal idea. Just to combine a bunch of ideas here, Sarah could misinterpret the Cubic Z as a proposal, which she turns down. This causes some relationship problems which hopefully would be “forgiven” by the end of the episode with an agreement to keep the status quo. Chuck is left scared of proposing. Then the next several episodes would have Sarah realizing she might want to get married (from watching Ellie and Devon plan a family). At the end of the micro-angst arc, Sarah proposes.

      • Joseph (can't be Joe) says:

I think Sarah should find a/the ring (that Chuck has acquired) somewhere in their room and just open the box and leave it on the desk near the computer. Then when Chuck comes in and plugs in his iPhone he notices said box and quietly freaks out while getting ready for bed. After they are both in bed quietly wondering what the next move is Sarah would say, “Are you going to do something with that (pointing to the ring) anytime soon or I my going to have to”.

Or something to that effect. That way they kind of both have to do it. Whenever it happens.

        Man is that ever sappy.

      • Throw in some good facial expressions and some great comic timing from Morgan, and sappy can become funny and/or awkward. Such is the power of Chuck.

      • atcdave says:

Wow, some fun ideas you guys. I like!

  8. BDaddyDL says:

Joe even if it turns out that its not Chuck in the announcement I have faith that they will get engaged this season.

Even though I am a self proclaimed shipper, the titles to the stories seem like a return to some more comedy and lightness with the hunt for Chucks mom being the heavy part of the season.

I would recommend joining twitter. In just a few minutes you can be set up for news about Chuck almost instantly.

    • joe says:

I’m pretty sure that Kristin’s announcement isn’t about Chuck too, but I do love the fan’s reaction either way, BDaddy.

I second your notion about Twitter. (For those of you who don’t know, I’m JM_Buckley there.)

      • amyabn says:

I’m amyabn there too. I’m not on much, but hey! Follow if you like. I only joined to support Chuck.

  9. alladinsgenie4u says:

Although , I would be thrilled to see a C/S wedding this season – I am being guardedly optimistic and hoping that there will be at least an engagement in the latter part of the season.

  10. hiswings says:

Wasn’t Kristen visiting the Chuck set either the day of or day before she made this Spoiler alert on E!?? And then Ausiello spills the beans on the EP 4.3 the same day? And wasn’t EP 4.4 announced nearly a week ago? In my mind – Kristen is giving away a MAJOR spoiler for Chuck.

And yes, there have been many times when the title refers to some obscure portion of the episode – while all along we “assume” it means something totally different. So I say, we may all be fooled by this one.

Personally, I would love the engagement and then some angst to bring in the WT/WT aspect for several episodes and then end the season with the wedding; but, some parts of Kristen’s newsflash left the impression that things would not be as we expect.

I, for one, can hardly wait the next 39 days, 1 hour and some odd minutes before EP 4.1 hits the airwaves.

  11. OldDarth says:

An engagement and wedding would pretty well cover off all the relational issues this season. If all that comes to fruition this it makes me very guarded about further seasons.

    • Faith says:

Not to worry OD. If there are lessons to be learned from budding shows like Undercovers, shows like the Office and classic shows like Get Smart…it’s that the story doesn’t end when the WT/WT ends and the couple gets together. If anything that’s where the real story comes to play. It just requires imagination and an open mind on the part of the viewers and the writers.

With the chemistry of Chuck and Sarah (YS and ZL) the only thing that would be a real tragedy is to continue to separate them and their amazing chemistry on screen.

  12. OldDarth says:

I am with you Faith. Its those other folks at the network and the show I am fearful of.

  13. Hannah says:

As much as I would LOVE to see Chuck and Sarah get married (it would be like a real life fanfic!), it seems to be that they are not the ones getting married. Fans from another show have connected the dots between Kristen’s and Ausiello’s posts. I won’t say who the couple is because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who doesn’t want to know.

  14. amyabn says:

I don’t know what will shake out from the spoiler, but I keep going back to all of Chuck’s declarations of wanting to spend the rest of his life with Sarah, her offering up thoughts of their life together and their post-spy life. There has also been a ton of foreshadowing with the Charles’ on the train, with Sarah wistful (I don’t know how else to describe it) while looking in the mirror and her fake wedding ring on a pretty realistic honeymoon. Also, the next episode had the “may you have many happy marriages” wishes from the Turners.
I think they should get it over with. Maybe they elope (while with Ellie, Awesome, and TB) in Costa Gravas. It would be funny if they get back and find out it isn’t legal in the states. then we get the real wedding. Could be funny.

    • Ernie Davis says:

It’s odd you mention that Amy because I had a similar thought. Some sort of big misunderstanding in episode 3 has them coming back together in episode 4 on a vacation where Ellie (with the help of Awesome and Premier Goya) throw another last minute beach wedding.

      • amyabn says:

Don’t forget Casey is a whiz at weddings too! It’s probably just the wishful shipper in me, but it would also serve to have them come back from Costa Gravas and gives them an excuse to move into the house. After all, the love birds needs a place where they can let the worm wiggle free, and it would be perfect to set up Alex moving in with Morgan (as roommates).

    • thinkling says:

Exactly! Their intentions have been made abundantly clear. So, just do it already. Eloping with the Awesomes and Team B in Costa Gravas sounds … awesome.

  15. Jan says:

Great start to a Sunday…positive speculation. Would be great to have another beach wedding. Sets up for an even more ideal Season 4. Since they’ve had the honeymoon, a marriage would be a wonderful follow-up. Especially with everyone together in Costa Gravas.

    • Jan says:

Although, I can’t imagine TPTB not having a wedding during the Nov rating period. So the “coup d’etat” could prevent the marriage from being legal in the U.S., leaving the door open for another wedding two or three weeks later

      • joe says:

Jan, what a ploy! You’d have a coup just so you could see your fav. characters get married twice??? Why, that’s audacious!

I *like* that in a woman.

        🙂

    • atcdave says:

Maybe they’ll just do Costa Gravis for the proposal, and make the wedding in Nov. sweeps. I just hope they don’t put the wedding off until the season finale, I’d like to enjoy some of the good stuff this year! (Sorry, hopelessly happy old married guy speaking)

      • thinkling says:

Hurray for us hopelessly happy old married people! I agree. I would hate to miss out on the deep pockets of rich material of C/S married!

      • Jan says:

        LOL…you are great Joe.
And hopeless happy married guys are great too, Dave.

      • atcdave says:

Ahh shucks. Did I mention I can be a curmudgeon too? (sorry Thinkling!)

  16. BDaddyDL says:

I really hope the TPTB do “The Question” right. I like the fountain, the beach, or even in front of a certain central american dictator.

  17. amyabn says:

Joe, thanks for the update! I have been wondering if there was any new news. I think it will likely be the duo from Greys, but I can hold out hope.

  18. Rick Holy says:

IF & WHEN the “big day” for Chuck and Sarah actually arrives (and let’s hope it does before the cancellation axe eventually falls), I just hope it’s not in a Vegas chapel with a white jump-suited and caped “King” presiding! 😉

Of course, if your going to have a cubic zirconia ring…… 🙂

    • jason says:

how about starting up a twitter movement for sarah and chuck to get married by a fairly well known ‘shipperish’ blogger who has a proven track record of performing marriage ceremonies? I think bailey / little chuck fan is still young enough to be the flower girl isn’t she?

      • joe says:

Sounds great, ‘specially if I can get in on the bachelor party! 🙂

So… who here wants to see Amy battle Faith and Jan for the bouquet, hum…?

      • alladinsgenie4u says:

@jason – I am on board with that idea.

@joe – I am banking on Faith winning the battle for the bouquet. After all she is the Queen of the Shippers (her designated title at the NBC boards)

      • jason says:

joe – u have a knack for writing things that make others want to respond, I’d love to see liz james added to the bouquet battle, as well as Mel (who probably would have a spoiler and know where Yvonne is going to throw it) and all the SWF girls, but my $ is on Alex, even if jeff. lester, and morgan have to tie / glue the other ladies feet down.

Put me down for the bachelor party, although from the blog community, would be funny to see oldarth and darth magnus at the bachelor party, like to see casey hanging out with darth magnus for a minute or two.

      • JC says:

I’d be more than happy to keep Carina busy and out of trouble.

      • atcdave says:

        A noble sacrifice JC.

      • JC says:

What can I say I’m just type of guy. Now if you’ll excuse me I need to find out how to pick handcuffs.

      • Amyabn says:

        Ahem….Look out ladies! 🙂 here I come!

      • Faith says:

I’m not touching that bouquet…with my luck that would mean I’m slated to marry Jeff! haha.

      • joe says:

        [Joe whispers]
Don’t tell anyone, Amy. But my money was on you all the way. 🙂

    • atcdave says:

I was thinking the same thing you guys, we got the perfect candidate!

    • Rick Holy says:

I’d do it in a heartbeat. And I’d even wave the stipend! (or donate it to the “Save Chuck” American Heart Association fund drive we had going on a while back).

Sarah/Sam/Jenny/Lisa/Walker/Burton might not be “Catholic,” but if I was betting, I’d bet that a Polish Yvonne Strahovski IS!!

So “Bring it on.” (except NO JEFFSTER ALLOWED IN THE CHURCH)!!! Just at the reception! 😉

      • jason says:

rick – I would love to see Sarah and chuck with you during one of the dreaded ‘meetings’ – we thought sarah slumped down on her chair when Casey interrogated her?

      • Rick Holy says:

Jason. Truthfully, I’m an old (or rather middle-aged) softie. One “uncomfortable squirm” from “Sarah” during one of those “dreaded meeting” interrogations would have me treating her with kid gloves!

Plus, I wouldn’t want to tick her off – she could, after all, kick my you know what!!

      • Rick Holy says:

Funny thing is, I’m actually – as we “speak” – typing a wedding homily for this Saturday – as I go back and forth between “searching for ideas” and “Chuck-blogging!”

      • joe says:

Oh this is hilarious. But if you were *really* an ol’ softy, Fr. Rick, you’d let Jeffster play.

Well, maybe without the fireworks, though…

      • Joseph (can't be Joe) says:

I’m curious as to how Father Rick would react if it was discovered that Chuck and Sarah HAVE TO get married.

      • thinkling says:

“I’m curious as to how Father Rick would react if it was discovered that Chuck and Sarah HAVE TO get married.” … Moot point – they’re already living together.

      • Rick Holy says:

Oh, we’d have some things to talk about. 😉

  19. herder says:

One thing that I was thinking about is about the cubic zirconium, perhaps it is part of a mission. Chuck and Sarah go undercover as a married couple, but as he “lost” the engagement ring in First Kill, the CIA won’t trust Chuck with a real diamond this time. Heather Chandler, the nice girl that she is, notices the fake and gives Sarah a hard time about it, perhaps spilling the beans about Jill getting the real ring from Chuck.

    • herder says:

Oh yeah, and if they do have a wedding, I’d love to see the contrast between the bachelor party and the bachelorette party. Think Casey, Awesome, Morgan, Chuck and Goya enjoying a relaxing cigar and a nice rum then flash to the chirping crickets of Sarah, Ellie and the General staring at each other.

    • atcdave says:

I could easily see the CZ causing some Sarah/Heather tension….. That is if Sarah is wearing it at all. Could be about something else entirely.

  20. thinkling says:

The couple’s identity has been revealed for those who want to know. Kristin tweeted about 5 hrs ago. http://tinyurl.com/2c5pm5f
