A Christmas Blessing from Chuck Fans

Chuck fans have often been activist and charitable in the past.  Two, who’s names will be well known to those who read Chuck fan fiction have started a special project this holiday season.  I recently received a letter from Quistie64 and Frea O’Scanlin, the full content after the jump….

We’re aware not everyone reads Chuck fanfiction, so we’re probably not
well-known among the whole Chuck fandom.  Allow us to introduce ourselves.
We’re quistie64, fanfiction author of hits such as Chuck vs. the Ninja
Librarian and Chuck vs. the Sound of Music, and Frea O’Scanlin, writer of What
Fates Impose and That Which is Greater.  But more important than either of
those things, we’re huge Chuck fans.

For many of us, Chuck is more than just a television show.  It’s a community
of not only fans, but cast and crew as well. And as we’ve proven time and
again, it’s a community full of heart.  As we head into the holiday season, we
are also mindful of the fact that the “little show that could” is coming to an
end.  And although this could be a time of sadness, we would like to take this
opportunity to celebrate the show by following the lead of the cast of Chuck
and help raise money for a charity that is near and dear to their hearts,
Operation Smile.  We’re calling it the “Chuck-‘Will Sing for A

Won’t you help us spread the word about our endeavor to help put a new smile
on a child’s face?  You will?  Excellent.  We’re so glad you asked how.  As
you may know, we both enjoy writing fanfiction for Chuck. As a thank you for
the donations received, we’ve decided to co-write a fic that will blend Chuck
and a musical to be chosen by the Chuck community.

Our chosen charity this year is Operation Smile, a cause supported by many
Chuck fans and by the man who plays Chuck himself, the great Zachary Levi.
There are so many worthy charities to choose from, we know, all of whom do
wonderful work, and we wish we could support them all.  We picked Operation
Smile because both of us love to see people smile through our writing and
outside of it, and we’d love to see Operation Smile make more people proud to

We’d love to have your readers be a part of this, even if they don’t read
fanfictions. What we would love is for you to have your readers go to
castleinantity.blogspot.com and vote in our poll to decide which
story we will coauthor.  We also have link to our Operation Smile page where
people can donate to this worthy cause in any amount they choose.  Each
donation will be added to our overall total.  We’ll write a chapter for each
$50 in accumulated donations.  Our dream is to provide at least two smiles to
children worldwide, which costs $480.  Seeing that met and surpassed would be
a dream come true.  The more money donated, the more chapters we’ll write, up
to and including some “easter eggs” that may be from our own works.  Such a
deal, right?  We’ll leave the donation drive open until around Christmas and
hope that people are willing to open their hearts and pocket books for this

Thank you for helping us spread the word and adding a new smile or two to the

Frea O’Scanlin and quistie64

Not only is this a worthy charity supported by Zach Levi himself; but Quistie and Frea are both awesome writers.  Any project they embark on together is bound to be terrifying a wonderful read.  This strikes me as worthy of this fandom, and I’m really excited by the idea.  So go cast your vote now!

Thank you, Dave and the rest of CT, for your support in this. We’re really excited to announce that we passed $480 extremely early on the first day of the drive, so early that both quistie and myself are completely humbled by everything that’s happened. We’re both really excited and awed by the sheer amount of heart in this fandom. So, thank you.

I’m always excited to see the good things people in this fandom come up with. So thank both for the idea, and the story that I’m sure will be finished (!) that comes with it.

That’s why we’ve got quistie along for the ride. She’s locked me in the basement to ensure that I don’t abandon the story (though I will point out I haven’t abandoned anything permanently. I’ve just conceded to writers’ block). 🙂

I’m Joe, and I endorse this message!

Hey, wait! I’m NOT running for ANYTHING, but I think this is a really wonderful idea. I’m not surprised that Frea’s and Quistie’s first goal was met almost instantly. The fandom is like that.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t do more. ‘Tis the Season, after all! 😉

Frea, Quistie, thank you for all you’ve written and for this great idea.

  3. quistie64 says:

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Chuck Will Sing for A Song-a-thon. The Chuck fandom is full of amazing, generous and wonderful people. We’ve already raised $1,673.34 in donations. Frea and I are awed, thrilled and humbled by it all. We look forward to diving into the story we’ll write. Keep voting!
