Category Sort Update

I don’t know how many readers make use of our category search function, but I just did a minor tweak.  It’s for my own use, hopefully this help some readers too!

I added an “Alternatives” sub-category to Fan Fiction.

Previously these had all been lumped together (Alternatives and regular Fan Fiction posts).  But I see them as different in some significant ways.  An obvious thing, Alternatives posts are more thematically linked to different periods of the show.  I also spend much more time discussing the canon story, and variations on that story.  To be clear, this is not always meant to be critical of the show itself.  Many things like bunker orders and secret relationships don’t need to be critical of the show at all.  These are just different ways the story might have proceeded.

The Alternatives posts DID start as a way of separating “pro” and “con” discussions of the Misery Arc.  But don’t be put off by that.  As the posts expanded they became more about those different possibilities and less about belly aching.

And they were always about fan fiction.  Every Alternatives post includes fan fiction that ties into a particular episode or period of the show.  The write ups are briefer than a full fan fiction post, but for any reader who wishes to look at a particular period this would be the better way to go.

    An important distinction!
